I feel your pain! I love my child more than life itself, but some days, I just can't take it. I can't keep up with her. My house is a wreck, I'm a wreck. I need to know that someone else understands.

Hey Kerry~ Circle of Moms has a forum, type "ADD/ADHD Children's Mothers" into search at top of page. Just discovered it myself. I have an 8 1/2 year old girl, third grade, who was diagnosed at 6 1/2, but didn't go on medication until June 08. It took us three months to find the right medication and learn what dosage and dosage schedule worked best. And, Wow! This school year, what a difference! It doesn't mean that we still don't work on behavior issues, but her relationships, school work, decision making abilities, etc., it's such a relief for both of us. As a teacher I've seen kids with ADD/ADHD type symptoms, and certainly do not believe children displaying these symptoms need medication. Some children are just active, thinking all the time, not challenged, etc., in which case many, with understanding can learn coping skills; such as making correct choices. But then some, as with my child, while she was greatly benefiting from learning these skills, just couldn't refrain from certain behaviors. I'm really hoping this site will be a real benefit to parents like us who are seeking answers, that "we" may learn for the benefit of our special children.

Hello, It is so nice to be able to talk with other moms who go through the same things as myself. I have a five year old son who has ADHD, ODD, Sleep apnea, Upper body sensory. What are some of the things you do to help your children?

Thank you

Katie

Will do ! i a, an adult with ADHD & OCD. I hae been throuh may doctors over the years and have finally found a great doc thst offers behavioral thereapy as well as medication. Look for it in the next week or so. I have a family of nurses and now have a 3 year old of my own. I see the frustration he has and I would love to help anyone no matter where they are to find someone that can do a chemical anylasis if need be to verify, to help!

I have a son with ADHD and it would be wonderful to have a community for that. I put him on the Gluten free diet and he is just doing outstanding now!

I too have a daughter with ADHD and one who is developementally delayed. It's so important to connect with as many parents as possible for advice but mostly so we don't feel like we're doing it all alone! I don't know about you moms but in my circle of friends no one is dealing with a child of special needs.

hi becky, it certainly would be great to share stories and compare notes because i don't know about you, but i feel that ADHD is often overlooked by many people who just don't understand and to be quite honest ignorant too. x
