It really depends on what procedures they did? Did they sever the tubes? Did they clamp them or tie them shut? Did they use Essure? There are several procudres.
It's unusual and really rare but can happen. I did warn my obgyn that if I got preggo after my spay job, I'd knock him out.

It is very rare, but does happen. I did have uterine pregnancy 6 years after tubes were tied. Due to severe medical condition, I had to terminate pregnancy. That child would be 14 now. This is something I have to live with. Immediately after termination, I had to have surgery again, to have tubes completely removed. Doctor wouldn't do histerectomy,(spelling?) but wanted to make sure I didn't get pregnant again as I could not have carried a baby any where near to term. So unless you are prepared to be pregnant again, even though tubes have been tied, please take precaution. I would have rather paid a few dollars for additional birth control than to live with what I had no choice in doing. Please don't take this wrong. I'm just one of the few who have conceived after a tubal ligation. I seriously didn't think I had to worry about it. But nothing is 100% except not being intimate. I didn't think it could happen to me. It truely is "better safe than sorry". Wish I could have hit the lottery instead!

It is rare. If you had your tubes tied immediately following birth of a child, 97% of the women never get pregnant again. If it was not immediately following birth, the rate is (about) 99.7% who never get pregnant again. Very good odds of not having another child! On a personal note, I had my tubes tied eight years ago and have never again conceived. Don't worry! The only better method is not having sex at all!

I think it would be very rare to get pregnant after 6 years of having your tubes tied and I wouldn't be to worried about it, but if you are worried maybe talk to your local doctor when you next see him/her and get their professional opinion, but I really don't think you have much to worry about.

Yes, it is possible to get pregnant after a tubal ligation. It is still relatively rare, but it does happen. Most often if you do get pregnant after a tubal it is an ectopic pregnancy (the egg starts developing in the tube). If you think you might be pregnant after a tubal, definitely get checked by your doctor because an ectopic pregnancy is dangerous to you and has to be medically terminated (there is no chance of baby surviving, your tube bursts before baby comes even close to term) - there have been cases where you have a normal pregnancy (egg gets to your uterus), but again, you have to have your doc check you, usually an ultrasound scan is done to see where the egg is.
