Hi, my 3 year old autistic (PDD NOS ) recently diagnosed, has started to do a lot of teeth grinding while getting frustrated and angry. It almost sounds like someone tearing a thick cloth apart. Anyone else with the same problem? Any suggestions?

Another thing, he has an expression possibly facial tics that is increasing every day. I consulted his doctor (an experienced neurologist) who says he can be medicated. But since he is so little I decided to wait. Do you guys think it's a good/ bad decision? I do see it increasing. My heart breaks to see my baby with that face. If I try to stop him (by distracting him etc.) he grinds his teeth as if extremely upset. As if someone hinders our sneeze. Do you guys think, it may be a stim? He was recently diagnosed so I am still learning to behave patiently. Moms please be careful in your advices. I don't want super pessimist responses as I can't handle it right now. Thank you guys!

The doctor asked us to try Clonidine. It is normally used by adults for high blood pressure. I did some research and found many kids do benefit from that med. My concern is that my son sleeps almost fine. I don't want him to be more drowsy during the day. I want him to learn while awake.
