CAR SEATS?

[deleted account] ( 4 moms have responded )

What type of car seat(s) do you have?

How old are your kids?

Which way do they face?

I have a britax roundabout convertable car seat for my 16 month old and he is rear-facing. I also own a evenflo embrace infant seat which I will use for our 2nd son due in January.

I would like to keep both kiddos rear-facing as long as possible but I have limited seat space and I worry this may become impossible once there are 2 kids. My hubby is very tall so we put my sons seat behind the passenger side for now so dad can recline his seat back but once baby # 2 gets here dad will not be able to fit! I love my son's roundabout it has very good ratings for safety and is easy to use but the no longer make it so I cannot get another one for my new child. The one they discontinued (still safe just can no longer buy them) goes up to 40 lbs but the new roundabout goes up to 55 lbs sounds great but i have a hard time fitting the smaller version as it is let alone two! I am also crazy and would like the seats to match so that is also a problem. I know it seems early to worry about getting a convertable seat for the new baby but my older son grew out of his infant seat (which we r re-using for baby bro) at 6 1/2 months and since seats are expensive we planned to buy ahead of time when we get our tax return. I need suggestions on convertable seats that fit rear-facing in cars with limited seat space! by the way I have a pontiac montana minivan but it isnt the extended version.

i have a evenflo symphony 65 all in one liberty...it rf to 30lbs, ff to 65 and boosters to 100...my son is 14 months and is still rf and will do so until at least 2 (as he's only 21lbs we still have lots of time). i also like to have my seat back all the way and am still able to do so with this seat - i find it fits well in smaller cars (my best friend bought one and she drives a mini cooper!) it's super easy to install with it's quick click latch system...click the latches onto the univeral anchor hooks and then just push the seat down with your weight and it will tighten automatically...i can install it myself in about 5 minutes!

dora - there are alot of evenflo complaints, but i looked at the consumer affairs, and the evenflo sypmphony 65 that i have is actually on the comsumer affairs "21 best bets and 7 good bets" lists for seats (as well is the chicco that you mention). it also has "8 not recommended" seats

here is the link

I forget what it's called, but it was the only seat available where I live that rear faces to 35 pounds. My 2 year 8 month old son is 29 pounds and is still rear facing in it. He's getting so tall and heavy that I know I'm going to have to forward face him soon. :( He fits fine behind my seat, but that's only cuz I'm so short that I can have my seat up pretty far. Pretty much no one else can drive my van. ;)

I highly recommend Chico for your second child. The safety ratings are outstanding. I would just double check the evenflo. When I was doing my research on car seats some consumers reported negativity towards the evenflo during a crash. I found the information on Consumer Affairs. i definitely understand how you feel about the Britax. We ended up getting that as the front facing car seat when he grew out of his infant seat.
