Hi.... my baby is nearing 4.5 months. She is currently on formula. The doc advised that we could now start her on cerelac (2-3 tsp per day) and see if she takes to it. Any suggestions if cerelac is ok at 4.5months? what are the negatives if any?

Oh yes, they certainly did. Actually, if you feed kids the same things you are eating when you start them on solids, they'll usually take to it fairly quickly.

They like to do what momma & daddy do ;-)

Hi Shawnn....tks for writing in....yes I do trust my phy.....I already started with a spoonful of cerelac today and she loved it... :) ....I just wanted to know whats the view of other moms who have started their babies on cerelac at around that age...and anything to watch out for....I read that cerelac contains sugar so was wondering if babies fuss when its time to start them on veggies (as it is not sweet like cerelac)....did ur sons take to food, veggies easily after cerelac?

So...you don't trust your physician? Generally, I've not found a physician that will recommend something that would be harmful or not advised...I'm assuming that perhaps the child is not receiving enough nutrition from the formula or breastfeeding? I was advised to start my sons on rice cereal at about that age due to them not gaining enough nutrition from my breastmilk, and even though I was mainly formula feeding by 4 months due to failure to thrive, they still recommended we start cereal
