So my 7 year old daughter was kicked off her competitive cheer team cause she was sick & we had to miss. She had only ever missed two practices the whole season. She has two practices a week 5 hrs total. And for the two practices she missed she was sick also (but we made up) So my question is, is there anything I can do as a mom to see if the gym would take her back? Or just let it go and move to another gym? So mad & can't make the right decision.. I really would like to call them up & really tell them what I think!
And advice would be appreciated!

Thanks & Blessings,
Sarah

Yeah I found the paperwork. It said they have a 5 limit absence, but if u miss a competition it could mean for automatic dismissal of the team. Which sucks caus we spent thousands and that just doesn't seem right even when I have a Drs note, but I guess it is what it is. I just know now days u can't win for losing. U bring a sick kid get everyone infected and have parents mad about that, or miss with a Drs note and have everyone mad about that. There is always a consequence with every decisions good or bad. Just learn and go on. Will be going to another gym now knowing the full extent of what can happen now. Thanks ladies!

Again, it depends on the agreement you signed when you put your kid into this. Most extracurricular teams do have an attendance policy, and I'm fairly certain it's in your paperwork

In the grand scheme of things, if your daughter missed 5 hours worth of practice, that's too much for a competitive team that only has 5 hours a week to work in.

Then again, this could be an opportunity for you to re-assess the activities you have your kids in, and make some changes.

Yeah but her practices are for almost two hours every week twice plus extra tumbling class. I think there should've been a warning then if missed again kicked off. Just to be fair, but I'm just praying I wrote her again and apologized, and said I would apologize for missing for being sick to all the parents and do whatever it takes to let her back on. But I haven't heard back from them. Just feel so awful as a mom 😪

It depends on the agreement you signed when you put her on the competitive team. When my son plays competitive sports, there is usually a line or two in the agreement that states minimum attendance and other rules. Missing only two practices seems pretty stiff to me--most of my son's teams in the past have allowed teammates to miss 3 or 4 before they are asked to leave--but it could be that way because your daughter's team only has two practices a week, which isn't much for competitive sports, so each practice is very important.

Look over the papers you signed when you signed her onto the team. It should say something about the maximum number of missed practices.

No cause I don't run to the dr everytime there sick. That's just to much; unless it went on for weeks than of course I would. Also, no I don't remember signing that I was forced to bring her if she is sick and spread a virus around. Figured it was like school if there is a fever keep them home. And I've notified them everytime she was sick with a fever. Just find this to be crazy, cause we literally spend thousands and dedicate our time not just sitting there 5hrs a week with two other kids, but driving 15-20 mins each way. That's a lot! And just to let her go, just makes me mad. It isn't fair and it's wrong.

Have you any proof that she was sick? Like when you take days off work most employees ask for a doctor's certificate, do you have one for the days she was sick?
Have you actually spoken calmly with the coach and explained she was sick and unable to attend?
Was there any stipulations when you started about absences or the amount that can be taken before being kicked off the team?
