Child only wanting lotions, cream, etc.

I need some insight... my 20 month old daughter will literally scream and throw fits for lotions, deodorants, perfumes, literally everything you shouldn't consume. I phoned the doctor and they think it's a "phase" but as daycare is approaching I'm quite nervous for her and the daycare provider. She is also refusing to eat "real" food now. I'm a loss of what I should be doing to correct this. :( any help would be appreciated. Is it just a phase??

Usually its just a phase that your toddler goes through. I had the same problem with my little one around the same age, however he was a little bit low on his iron content and the doc suggested us to give iron supplement ferrinsol for a couple of months and that fixed his craving for all non food items. Since she refuses to eat i would suggest you to ask your doc to test for her iron levels. Its usually a little prick in the finger and doent hurt much.

Keep EVERYTHING unsafe locked away and out of her reach... and let her throw her fits. Make sure the daycare provider has all these items locked away as well.

Toddlers throw fits... and many toddlers are also picky eaters. Offer her a small variety of healthy foods at regular intervals and let her decide what she eats from those choices and when. It is highly unlikely that she will starve herself. If she DOES start to lose weight or suffer any other ill effects... bring her to the doctor to get checked out.
