HELP ME !!!! I am so stressed over this... im obsessed with my 4 year olds bowel behaviors. He has been pee trainied for a year.. Sept 19 2011 it took me 3 days to get him to pee on the potty. we were so excited because the cost of diapers was crazy!! He still wasnt popping in the potty and i thought it was because he was ALWAYS constitpated. I was told by my ped, to give him miralax everyday adult doses to keep him soft. We had him pooping in the potty a few times. Then something happened he got so hard that we had to give him enemas and that set him back. Now I cant get him to go any more. I have done everything i have praised and screamed and cried and pleated until i am blue in the face. I have taken away Leappads, ipads, wii, DS games, tv movies, park. He dont care... I ask him where do we poop he tells me the potty. And when he does go in his pants he comes and tells me with this look of fear on his face and says he is sorry.I know its not a behavior issue. But he is scared of something or is it possible he cant feel the urge and when its starts to come out he doesnt know what to do. I am ready to move into a crazy house I am a prisoner in my home for a year. Any answers I will take anything at this point.

Thanks Jordan!! I found some pictures of a little man on the potty and i am going to try to put together a social story and show him that picture. I have also glued his face on that picture from another picture I found.

Hang in there Jennifer. It's frustrating, I know. It took my daughter until she was 4 1/2 before she would go on the toilet. She too has slow-moving bowels and has been on Miralax.

Does he wear pull-ups or cloth underwear? We went to Imse Vimse cotton training pants. They are kind of expensive, but we only got a few. I tried to be matter-of-fact and had her start cleaning out her underwear. She told me it was easier to go in her pants. Man, was that frustrating! It finally took the addition of a "social story" to help us. I spoke with the social worker in the early childhood department of our local school district. She made a personalized book and a velcro token chart. It worked like a charm!

It might help to chart when he tends to go too. If you find a pattern, maybe you can have him try just a little beforehand.

I hope this helps. He will get it eventually.
