An Au Pair is a young person from a different country that wants to experience living in America. They are carefully screened, trained and have evaluations of their English speaking ability. That cost is the same if you have one child or 6. He/she would live with your family and the intent is you integrate them into your life and teach them about American cultures and experiences. They stay for a year with and option to add a second. If it does not work out, you can rematch with a new caregiver. We had one, and it was the best childcare arrangement I ever had!

You may need to look into hiring a nanny.
I don't know what the usual hours for child care are in San Diego but where I live it's usually 7am - 6pm. People that work outside of those hours either have a family member watch the children or have a nanny that is more flexible than a centre.
