hi, i'm a fashion design student and I am designing a childrenswear line for an under-serviced market for my project. I'm am trying to understand what moms look for and need in children's clothing. if you can be so kind to take a bit of time to take this survey, it would be great deal of help to me. thank you!

1. Is your child a male or female?
2. How old is your child?
3. Where do you currently shop at for his/her clothing? (boutiques, mall, outlets, etc.)
4. How often do you shop for clothes each year?
5. What do you look for when you’re shopping for clothes? Is it style, prints, colours, fabric, brand, fit etc.?
6. Does your child’s opinion matter when you purchase his/her clothing or does he/she wear whatever you buy for them?
7. What do you think is missing in the current fashion market? Is there an article of clothing you have in mind that you aren’t able to find anywhere?
8. Would you purchase clothing with natural fibers and dyes? If so, why would you choose these fabrics?
9. How important is functionality in your child's clothing to you? What functions do you look for?
10. Do you think there is clothing suitable for your child's age group in the market right now?

1. Is your child a male or female?
- two boys, two girls

2. How old is your child?
- boys are 6 and 5, girls are 9 and 10.

3. Where do you currently shop at for his/her clothing?
- mostly online, warehouse sales and outlets. Rarely the mall. Never boutiques.

4. How often do you shop for clothes each year?
- three to five times.

5. What do you look for when you’re shopping for clothes?
- fashionable, but not too fashion-victim trendy, fit matters a lot since our kids are slim and it's difficult to find clothing that fits them properly, I do look at brands, but mainly because I follow brands that will last for at least three years of wear (we do hand-me-downs) and because a lot of stores have promotions where the best discounts require you to buy a certain volume of clothing,

6. Does your child’s opinion matter when you purchase his/her clothing or does he/she wear whatever you buy for them?
- yes, but our kids aren't fussy, they like what I pick.

7. What do you think is missing in the current fashion market? Is there an article of clothing you have in mind that you aren’t able to find anywhere?
- tween clothing is hard, Justice needs a competitor.
- nice kids raincoats, the go-to chain for kids rainwear in Canada just shut down, and I'm super stressed out about it! I've never seen raincoats for kids so nice, and can't find anyone else with anything similar.

8. Would you purchase clothing with natural fibers and dyes? If so, why would you choose these fabrics?
- we have some organic clothes, naturally dyed items, stuff that I picked up on clearance, I like it, but am just as happy with the more mainstream clothing we have

9. How important is functionality in your child's clothing to you? What functions do you look for?
- we don't have a car and need good quality outerwear, boots you can walk miles in, snow suits and winter coats that are warm, raincoat that keep you dry. A lot of what's available is clearly aimed at people who just need to get their kids from the house to the car, or the house to bus stop. I've lot of the kids winter clothing lately has been stuff aimed at the outdoors sports market because that's the only place I've been able to find the quality.

10. Do you think there is clothing suitable for your child's age group in the market right now?
- see above comment about Justice.
