Hi mommies!! I'm 9 months pregnant with my 3rd child. I delivered my 2nd at 36 weeks due to Cholestasis. I started itching severely with this one around 28 weeks, my doctor is only testing for Liver Function and Bilirubin. My question is: to be properly diagnosed don't I need the Serum Bike Acids test (total bile acids) to be properly diagnosed? I'm going on 35 weeks and don't want to risk my son's life!! Please help!!

That sucks when they don't listen! You HAVE to have a doctor who will listen when you're pregnant especially in your condition.

Thanks Katherine.. I was hospitalized last weekend for GI issues (not related) .. They did the serum bile acids there. I would get the results mon. I saw my ob today and when I explained that I had that test done he didn't even know what it was our why I got it. Then continued to retool my bilirubin, alkaline tests, etc. were at normal levels to which I explained that those levels can be normal and still have high bile acids. He completely disregarded anything I said and acted like I was crazy. I was so mad I was crying. I so can't wait for my results to come on Mon!!! I'm so frustrated :/
