Christmas Gift Opinions

My adopted son is 13 years old and has been diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, ADHD, and Absence Seizures. The only thing he is really interested in is video games. The games he is asking for, for Christmas are war games. I'm not a big fan of video games in general, but I know its his "thing". Are there any good video games out there for him? Do you have any other ideas of things besides or to go alongside video games for kids like him? Thanks

I was not really a proponent of video games like you are suggesting. Many kids his age are into those war games for the video game systems. He just needs to understand what your rules for them are and what you will allow at home and do not. My son was 15 or so before being allowed Halo and other similar games. There are racing games he could play or others similar. There is Minecraft which forces the kids to make things for the video game to work. But the games you allow at home should be what you are comfortable with having around. Go to a game store without him and talk to the sales people there and tell them what you allow at home and they can come up with some other ideas of games you might be fine with. But I do not think it matters if a kid is normal or has health or mental issues where deciding what games to allow at home are concerned. Its up to the parent with what they think is best for their kids.
