I am having issues with my 14 month old son and chronic reoccurring ear infections. They started back in September and he has been on 10 different rounds of antibiotics in that time frame. We had tubes put in June 17 and he has had another ear infection. I have expressed my concern many times with my peds doctors, and the ENT, both of which blew me off. Saying it was normal, and I didn't have anything to be worried about. Can the antibiotics he has been on (Amoxillion) not be working for him?

Another concern is he has a blocked tear duct and always gets bad when he has an ear infection. Right now it is horrible, I took him to the Dr and they said he is fine, no ear infection (this is a blessing) but should I be concerned about the gunk coming out of his eye?

Any moms with experience this this, please weigh in, as I am at a loss.

Thank you for the insight... I am starting to wonder if amoxillion is not working for my son anymore. The next time we are at the Dr office, I am going to ask that they give him something else, and then we will see if the same pattern occurs.

As for drops, no we have not been prescribed any drops yet. Might be our next solution.

I asked the ENT and peds about allergies, and they both indicated that he is too long to be tested for allergies. I am scared that he is allergic to the Dog (who is our first son, LOL)

When my son was 6mos old he had an ear infection twice a month. We went to the ER and they would give him amoxillion or peniciline. Finally when he was 10 months old I was referred to an ENT because he had reocurring ear infections and amoxillion wasn't helpiing any they put tubes in his ears. At age 5 he had tubes replaced in his ears and his tonsills taken out. He is doing much better.
Did the ENT prescribe you ear drops? My son had to get drops in his ear called Ciprodex. Every night or when his ears would ozz without an infection i would put 3 drops in ear and it would be cleared up the next day. Your son has became immune to the Amoxicillon so its probably not working anymore, and the tear ducts in the eyes is probably allergies. My son was diagnosed with allergieries and had to take Albuterol and he grew out of it when he was 3 yrs old. Hope this helps
