Need some help & guide. My son who is 3 years has severe constipation. He was having daily poo when was baby, after consuming solid food at age 1-2 year we realize his poo pattern changed.

We then change his diet, giving him non constipation food, 2 serving of fruit daily, 2 cups of milk a day plus 15mg of duphalac (type of laxative) in alternate days. With all these his poo was between 4-5 days.

Even with 4-5 day poo, his stool seem to be ideal type.

Type 3: Like a sausage but with cracks on its surface

We have been to a specialist last week, done barium enema. Result was a heart broken, Doc told us he was suspicious of Hirschprung and advise us do biopsy to further confirm. Which I reluctant, because I cannot accept if the result was really Hirschprung and my son need to undergo a colon surgery.

I am exhausted and really don't want to get a colonoscopy done - thats the last resort
Advice please if 4-5 day poo is normal?

It's not normal. Many people will tell you otherwise but I have no doubt about intestinal autointoxication, which is the cause of link between infrequent bowels, a weakened immune system and weakened mental health.

Bedrok community has some good diet and lifestyle advice about this, but I really would get the Hirchsprung test done if the doctor has suspected this may be a possibility.
