I was told to pull the skin when he showers and run soapy water and then rinse. Nothing about putting vaseline to protect it. His underwear is loose so that could be part of it, because he doesn't like to touch it. Thank you for the advise, I will try this and hopefully he can finally heal. Have a great day.

Make sure it is staying covered with Vaseline or Aquaphor all of the time, Apply antibiotic ointment if prescribed and cover with sterile gauze. make sure his underwear are close fitting and not rubbing and he should not touch it! What instructions were you given about retracting the foreskin? You don't want any adhesion to form. At this Point I'd see a new urologist or new surgeon for advice. if it is still red and irritated, something is causing it not to heal. Poor guy!

i'm new to this and I'm a desperate mommy searching for some advise on how to help my son heal from his circumcision. He had to have it done because of something called phimosis. This was 6 months ago and it's still swelling up and always red/irritated. I have taken him to the doctor and they just give him antibiotic cream and send us home. It works for a few days then it's back to the same thing. I just want to see if anyone has had this problem. Thank you for your time.
