Hi my baby is 7mths old and my baby`s foreskin went back when he was just 3 weeks old and i always pull it back and clean it.about 1/4 of the foreskin is still attached to the penis head though.Your baby can get an infection otherwise sometime later down the road and end up having to be operated on....

The boy will eventually, naturally retract his own foreskin, bit by bit, probably anytime between the age of 3 and 5. When he does you can pour water over it or even apply a gentle soap, but make sure you rinse well while it's retracted. If it is uncomfortable in any way, it is too soon. Once they are older (8 or more) they can be entrusted to keep it clean by themselves when they shower or bathe. I have 3 boys, ages 5-12, and we've not had any problems. Just being willing to talk about it matter-of-fact can go a long way. It's natural. :)

when the foreskin is able to retract by itself that is when you can clean it this can happen anywhere between 3years and ten years , NEVER retract a foreskin before its ready or you may cause it to tear and become infected .

i was told by the doctor at the hospital to NEVER pull back the babys foreskin. apparently if u do force it back it can get 'stuck' and would then be considered a medical emergency- where the y would have to circumsize. i wsa told that it will separate itself in anywhere from 2-12 years. he is 2 now and i can tell it is beginning to separate only slightly. we still use johstons baby wash and just clean around the area, not in it.

My son is going to be 4 on Monday and I've never pulled his foreskin back. I get him to clean the end of his own penis now by just rolling it in his fingers a bit with the soap but we never pull the skin back.
I have no idea because I'm a girl and my daughter is a girl...but that doesn't hurt? I know when I get soap in my genitals it hurts like hell! But, this is an interesting tidbit if I ever have a son. :)
You need to ask his pediatrician- everyone told me not to clean under the foreskin until my son was older and he got a yeast infection- the Dr. told me to rinse and apply petroleum jelly to prevent "sticking" (this was all between the ages of 3 months and 1 year) He is 7 now with no problems.

YOU yourself don't EVER clean under the foreskin. As it separates naturally your son will discover it himself and then it's all a matter of the boy cleaning it by swishing some water over it. Until that happens, you clean a baby's penis like you would a finger.
