Co sleeping

My little one has just turned 1 and has co slept with us from birth- I'm at the stage now where I really want to stop breast feeding and just can't seem to teach him to self soothe. I'd really like him to be able to go in his cot not necessarily in his own room yet but I'd like to get it establishes so if i was to have another baby he wouldn't feel pushed out of our bed. Does anyone else have/ had this problem and knows how to remedy it without leaving him to cry it out- I definitely can't do that?

Yes, you can put his "new" bed beside yours. And he can see you but knows that he is a big boy with a special new bed. He is old enough to wean. Even if he is hungry it does not take more than 15 min.
Will he take a bottle with cereal or a bowl with think cereal and some milk? This will fill his belly and he will sleep.
Put him in his bed and maybe get him a new stuffed animal to cuddle with.
I highly recommend that if you have another baby you do not let them sleep with you.
I never let them and my sister did. If they are not allowed they do not realize others do it. Just a rule of thumb.
