Co-Sleeping with a nursing 6 month old

While my lo is at dc they swaddle and rock him to sleep. Lately, it has been effecting his sleep pattern at home. He has always preferred to use me as a pacifier, but I was always able to unlatch him and he would sleep for 2-4 hours. Lately, he is fussing every hour, refuses a pacifier and wants to nurse. Sleep is getting worse. I want to try putting him in his crib, but with him nursing I wonder if he could go that long without eating? My ped says he should be able to sleep 12 hours without nursing. Your thoughts?

Thank you! Everything in me says to ignore the Ped. I guess I can only wait until that majic moment where he sleeps for 12 hours. lol

Ignore your ped. ;) I will tell you that my twin girls slept 12 hour nights at 6 months.... for a month. Then they were up once or twice a night til 14 months. My son only slept through the night (10-11 hours) a handful of random times until he was 2.

There ARE ways to guide them towards sleeping longer, but I wouldn't know about them from experience at that age.
