My son is 6 weeks old and has acid reflux. He is on medicine and seemed fine for almost a week and the last few days has been very fussy. He cries for hours without wanting to nurse. He has never refused to eat before. He has a clean diaper and temperature is normal, is acid reflux and colic in the same family? Is it normal?

My baby was spitting up most of the time after feeding and was cranky and fussy. He was diagnosed with colic and acid reflux. My Pedi put him on Zantac but after two weeks he was still miserable. A friend told me about Babies magic tea that worked for her baby too. When I started giving this tea to my baby, he started getting better very first day and within three coming days, he was completely relaxed and very less spit ups with no fussiness.

My son had acid reflux when he was about a week old. I understand how hard it's. Just hang in there, it will get easier. Just a question though, have you checked to see if he is tongue tied? Sometimes if they are they have a hard time eating and they are getting gassy because they are sucking so much. Anyways, I put Alex in swing through about 3 months. He slept in that swing all the time. Him being elevated helped alot. I also elevated the crib by putting blankets under neath the mattress. Hope this helps any.

My daughter developed acid reflux when she was two months old. She was very irritable before, during, and after feedings and she got to the point she would spit up everything she ate. In all other respects she was fine. She just didnt have any interest in eating nor did she show any signs of being hungry because it bothered her so much when she did eat. I don't know if your baby has colic but it sounds a lot like when my daughter had acid reflux. Our doctor wanted to put her on meds but we opted not to and we went with a different formula. We used Enfamil AR (added rice) and it worked wonderfully. It was like night and day. She kept all her food down and no longer fussed during feedings. It's a little pricier and there is no brand name but its something to look into. Good Luck!

Have you checked his mouth for spots or discoloration? When a friend's child had thrush, he refused to nurse. Also, he might be constipated. You can safely use glycerin suppositories or a rectal thermometer in a pinch. I can't remember how often they are supposed to have a Bowel Movement (BM), but I know that it is at least once a day. You can also check Web MD for great information.
