Our son, 20, will be a junior at a state university, gets great grades and hasn't given us much trouble. He.Will be Sharing an apt with his girlfriend and another roommate. He has decided that wherever his girlfriend sleeps, he has to sleep. I asked him to come home and spend the last few nights at home before going back to school and was told that he can come during the day and sleep back at her family's house at night. We pay for everything and have given him and his 15 yr old sister an amazing life. We've made our fair share of mistakes along the way. We are good parents at the end of the day.
He will be with her 24/7 in a week and cant even give us a few days. I've shed so many tears and it has caused a lot of upset in our home.
What do I do?

I suggest you accept what he is willing to give you or he will push you further away.
He's willing to spend days with you, take it. What is the difference if he sleeps at your house or not? You don't all sleep in the same room (I'm assuming) so what's the difference?

As your son transitions into his adult life it is hard for mother's specifically to let go. It does sound like some of his decisions have been good and some not so good. However he must be allowed to make his own decisions as an adult. Here are a couple of articles that may be helpful. http://bit.ly/2d16hsi http://bit.ly/2cYvqFI

I agree with Dove. He is 20 years old and an adult and can make his own decisions about his life even with your helping him out with his expenses and school stuff. He is giving you time, what more do you want?

He's 20 and is willing to spend the days w/ you and the nights w/ her... I'm not understanding the problem unless you are going to stare at him in his sleep....
