Concerned about my 2.5 year old son

I am new to circle of moms so I will try my best to explain my self. Me and my husband have 3 kids. 9 year old girl, 2.5 year old boy and a 1 year old girl. We are very concerned about our 2.5 year old son as he is still not talking. He makes sounds and screems and babbles but now words. He is very shy too with our friends and relatives. It takes him a while to open up to other kids and adults. But he still doesnt seem to be all there. Once he opens up he will play with other kids but still seems to be in his own. He doesnt isolate himself in the corner or anything but will take his personal moments. Thats one concern to us. Other concern to us is his acting little weird at times. ( especially before going to bed ) He will kind of look side ways and shake his head up and down just briefly. Will stare at window or something briefly until we distract him. He does not display this behavior all the time. Just some times before he goes to bed. He is little aggressive to his younger sibling. He does not like her touching his toys or anything. He gets very upset. He would push her or even kick her. He also gets upset when he gets food on his hands or shirt and if it visible to him. We would have to clean it up so that he can finish eating. On the flip side he does make very clear lengthy eye contact with us when we call his name. He would give us a smile. He will mostly communicate by pointing towards the stuff. He will go by fridge or pantry when he needs something and would start screeming/babbling to catch our attention. We started his speech therapy month ago. We also put him in day care about month ago so he can socialize with other kids and hopefully learn stuff. We also have an apointment set up with the child developmental pediatric on January 16th 2013 so that we can get him checked for autism or any other problem. But in the mean time I would welcome any feedback for moms out there. Thanks
