Hi! I need a little input. I have custody of my 2 autistic sons. Right now I am not working because of the various meetings at their school and the weekly behavioral therapy sessions. My sons have been receiving SSI since Fall 2013.
In February 2014, I allowed their father to use them on his taxes since he provided support for them for the majority of last year (paying the monthly mortgage and most utilities for our home). It seems pretty selfish that when he received his refund, he has not offered much of nothing - maybe an outfit and a meal from McDonald's for both of them. He mentioned that since I receive SSI for our sons that he was entitled to this refund!???? He talked about how he needed to pay for costly maintenance for his Escalade and to pay attorneys fees for his incarcerated adult son.
Please answer this: am I wrong for thinking that his selfishness with his refund is ridiculous?
Trust me, every day is so unexpected with my sons. They are 7 and 8 (and both are autistic). They're both doing well at school - thanks to me being actively involved in meetings at the school and staying on top of the boys to do their homework and to do your best. And some days, they are in their own little world and it can be a struggle sometimes.
I'm just looking for a little guidance! Thanks!!
