Can be causes by changes of feed (the bowels go into "shock" and take time to adjust), growth, lack of exercise or colds/other illnesses. Ways to combat it include adding karo syrup to the formula, tummy massage and leg-bicycling. Also very small doses (0.5 to 1 oz) of non-acidic fruit juices, diluted (pear and prune are the most laxative). When they're a little older you can give very small amounts of water (0.5 to 1 oz)
Constipation leads to autointoxication from the intestines, so if he hasn't done a dooh for two days, give him a glycerine or soap-sliver suppository (baby size = 1 gram). No side effects or addictive properties, and either one will make him do a smelly in 5-15 minutes.
