My grandson is 1 month old. One week after he came home, he stopped using the bathroom on his own. The doctors said its normal that some babies have to learn to push their bowel movements out. He suggested that my daughter stimulates him to go by putting petroleum jelly on a Thermometers and put it in his rectum to stimulate him to go. And once she does that and he goes, he comes out fine, its not hard like it would be if he constipated. I am very concerned because I do not feel she shoud have to keep doing this to make him go. She usually does this every 2 or 3 days because he cries so bad and so fussy and gasy so he needs relief. However, the doctor still says some babies have to learn to push. I just dont know about that. Has anyone ever had this issue?
