contraceptive method while breastfeeding

I've only tried two while breastfeeding so I can only tell you what not to use! One was estrogen-free BC pills which I found caused me to bleed excessively for almost the entire month. The second was Mirena which twice dried up my supply. So I wouldn't recommend those. If I could go back I probably would have just used condoms.

The mini-pill is supposed to be safe while breastfeeding, or you could use barrier methods like condoms or a diaphragm. Either way, make sure you use SOMETHING. I know many women who have thought that nursing was enough protection against pregnancy, only to wind up with "Irish twins."
