We made out little ones cot into a bed and he loved it. Thought we would have real problems with him getting up in the night, but it didnt happen. A couple of months later, we moved him into a bigger bedroom, with a proper big boys cabin bed, and so far I think he's got out of it twice. He just prefers to lie in it and shout until one of us goes to get him (but thats lazy little boys for you!). We just made a thing of it being a big boys bed like it was something really exciting, and took him up to see it during the day, so he didnt get greeted with the change at bed time.
Good luck x

Hi Zoe, my daughter has ADHD. as soon as she could walk she was always trying to climb out of her cot and was always fidgetting in her sleep, (Shes 11 now n still a big fidget) before she was 2 i put her in a childs bed, made the bottom half of the bed up so pillows were half way down. I originally had a bead guard on the side, which she was constantly hitting when rolling over. so i took that off and put duvet alongside of the bed for padding incase she rolled out. Stick to a good routine, set a time to follow every night as bedtime, read book or whatever u do. 1st few nights she will prob keep coming out, take her back to bed, stay for 5 mins then leave the room. She will soon get the hang of it. just keep reminding her how she is a big girl now for sleeping in a proper bed. Hope this helps

I just make the switch, most kids take to a bed really well, I had no drama's with my kids!! I would just leave the cot in the room in case your girl has some issues with the move, otherwise, just move her, at 2, she will let you know if she doesn't like it!!
