Jenny they sure can see the baby after 11 weeks with a vaginal ultrasound. If you had an utlrasound and a doctor is telling you that you arent pregnant, then its pretty clear you arent. There is such thing as a hysterical pregnancy which this sounds like.

The symptoms of pseudocyesis are similar to the symptoms of true pregnancy and are often hard to distinguish from it. Such natural signs as amenorrhoea, morning sickness, tender breasts, and weight gain may all be present. Many health care professionals can be deceived by the symptoms associated with pseudocyesis. Research shows that 18% of women with pseudocyesis were at one time diagnosed as pregnant by medical professionals.

The hallmark sign of pseudocyesis that is common to all cases is that the affected patient is convinced that she is pregnant. Abdominal distension is the most common physical symptom of pseudocyesis (60–90%). The abdomen expands in the same manner as it does during pregnancy, so that the affected woman looks pregnant. These symptoms often resolve under general anesthesia and the woman's abdomen returns to its normal size.

The second most common physical sign of pseudocyesis is menstrual irregularity (50–90%). Women are also reported to experience the sensation of fetal movements known as quickening, even though there is no fetus present (50–75%). Other common signs and symptoms include gastrointestinal symptoms, breast changes or secretions, labor pains, uterine enlargement, and softening of the cervix. One percent of women eventually experience false labor.

To be diagnosed as true pseudocyesis, the woman must actually believe that she is pregnant. When a woman intentionally and consciously feigns pregnancy, it is termed a simulated pregnancy.

Any type of pregnancy test works by detecting a certain hormone in the urine or blood that is only there when a woman is pregnant.[3] The pregnancy hormone known as human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is made when an egg that is fertilized with sperm implants in the uterus (or in the case of an ectopic pregnancy elsewhere in the body, such as the fallopian tube or abdominal cavity) approximately six days after human fertilization occurs. During a normal pregnancy, the hCG level doubles approximately every 2 to 3 days, reaching a peak at about 8 weeks following conception. Both urine and blood tests may detect this particular hormone and confirm pregnancy as early as six to eight days after conception.[citation needed]

When I was pregos with my son, I had the vaginal u/s. So I'm pretty sure it would show up. I see that you wrote only till 11 wks along, but I've had them later becuz I didn't have enough water to drink.

i thought so as well. however, the viginal u/s can only tell if there is a sac there up to 11 weeks.. After that it can not determine if there is a fetus only to scan your organs. uterus, ovaries etc: I need what you called a transabdominal u/s where they could through the uterus. Thanks hon! PS i feel movements and have since the 2nd week of Dec of last year.. I believe my last REAL cycle was 8/8/10 My stomach os out there and it starte getting big in Dec.

I would have to say if they did an u/s and didn't see a baby than you aren't pregnant.
