Eric has been itching his head alot, I parted his hair and saw he has what looks like cradle cap! I wash his hair with johnsons shampoo, why did he get this? How do I fix it?

He has thick long curly hair that I do NOT want to cut!

The technical name for cradle cap is seborrheic dermatitis and can happen at any age. It can be a chronic condition. There are prescription shampoos for this, but you can also try using an over the counter shampoo that contains selenium, one brand name is Selsun Blue, but there are others and store brands as well. A couple of times a week wash your son't hair with this shampoo. Put the shampoo on his Dry hair and scalp. Let it sit for about 10 minutes or so, then add water and wash as usual. This should help to relieve the condition.

My 5 year old gets it so I use olive oil about 10 minutes before he get in the bath and use my fingers to loosen it up and then use a fine tooth comb tomget it out.
