I am in the middle of a custody situation for my 4 year old. He will be starting 4K to get ready for kindergarten. He goes to his fathers every other tues-sun so he is in his life, even though he spends the majority of that week with his grandma. His father lives 2 hours away from me and that schedule wont work for school purposes hence the only reason we need to do full custody case. What do i do?

You don't need full custody... and most likely won't get it. You just need a change in the visitation schedule. If you can talk to your ex.. with or without mediation... that is the best option. Hopefully he's reasonable enough to not try and cause any issues, but if he is going to put up a fight... you need to take it to court. Most judges will see the situation and set up an agreement similar to what Amy mentioned.

You won't get full custody it will still be shared or joint just not 50/50. You will probably need to set up something like every other weekend, and 3-4 weeks in the summer, with alternating school vacations.
