My son is been living with his grandparents for 9 years. They think that I can't take care of him. Now he wants to live with me and they are fighting with me. What can I do?

He's your child. Why did you not just go and take him? They don't have legal custody? They have no rights. However, I would question your commitment if you have left him to be raised by them for the last 9 years.

If they've been the primary guardians for NINE YEARS... I would imagine it would be rather difficult for you to have custody if they pursue a court battle.

If he is with you every weekend.... why did you not just refuse to give back YOUR son 9 years ago?!

The courts aren't going to think too highly of you letting other people raise your son (money or not... with them 5 out of 7 days/week means they've been raising your son) for 9 years and all of a sudden you now want him to live with you. I would recommend you try to work out a different agreement with the grandparents.

I am so committed that I buy him everything he needs. He is with me every weekend.

No. When he was 3 months I moved to a city nearby and my parents thought the best thing was for me to leave him there until I got settled. After that they always had an excuse.

Why has he been living there? Were they awarded custody for some reason?
