My 22 month old son's father (unmarried, cohabiting) left us 100 days ago and is already planning to marry. I have no information on their home to know it is a safe, smoke free environment, no information on the new step-mother or 11 year old step sister. He's spent approximately 66 hours with his son since leaving. I'm very concerned about all of these sudden erratic changes, and the potential for having to let my baby go stay with strangers. I was wondering if anyone had any comments/advice?

Your son has a right to a relationship w/ his father. Period. Unless you have solid evidence of concerns many courts will award 50/50 custody automatically. You might get full custody w/ him having visitations, but unless he is proved to be abusive or on drugs (in which case supervised visitations might be awarded)... he has a right to a relationship w/ his son just as much as you do. Sorry... it's not an easy thing to accept, but it is a fact.

I have a lawyer that I don't feel like is doing anything and we went for child support just last month. Its the custody and visitation part that is most concerning to me.

Yes, go get a lawyer. Get a custody agreement in order. Also make arrangements for child support.
