Hey my daughter has a cyst on her brain. They found at during her MRI brain scan when she was 7 months old. My heart sank when I heard the words but then they said straight after its quite common and dos no harm. Shes 22 months now and we dont think about it

HI Tracey, my perinatologist found something similar with my second pregnancy....if there are no other markers for Down's/Trisomys either in your baby's brain or heart, it is likely something that will resolve before 28 weeks. We had our son re-imaged at 28 weeks and the cysts were gone. Good luck to you!

hello! my name is Liz and with my last pregnancy...a year ago...my 20 week scan showed 2 large choroid plexus cysts on my baby's brain. they set up a 3d scan and regular scan for 2 weeks later, as they said they usually disapear in that time...i tried to reassure myself but it was so hard to wait!! then at 22 weeks they had vanished. no signs of anything but a perfectly healthy baby boy :) he is now ten months old and a large baby. but right on track!! no worries (i know easier said than done,) but hang in there mamma!! If you need to vent feel free to message me :) ~Liz

hi, my name is sara. with my second child they found a cyst at 18 wks. my doctor told me it was nothing to worry about and that it was common and usually went away by the time baby is born. when i had another ultrasound 4-6 wks later the cyst was gone. My daughter is now 5 with no issues and is perfectly healthy. my doctor said that they don't really know why a cyst forms but it does and turns out to be harmless. i know that it's scary but right now i wouldn't worry. baby will be fine. hope this helps to ease your worries.

Hello, I'm Angie, I was very concerned this pregnancy because they had me on high risk because of previous pregnancies, I miscarried at 22 weeks last time. I go tommy regular hospital for my checkups but they sent me a different one for a different sonogram which showed a beautiful healthy baby except a cyst on the brain...I a was supposed to follow up in 4 wks which I didn't bc of transportation and work...but have been to regular doctor since then..now when they told me this they said its becoming more normal it's
Ike green eyes or blue eyes..when they followed up at my regular doctor she said it could b n outcome of 6 fingers instead of 5 but the baby will be alright...but that's not normal! I have been very worried...funny thing is the regular doctors did an ultra sound after that first appointment with the discovery of the cyst and they could not see anything, and told me it goes away, my concern, can it come back? Is the baby ok, I'm still worried of the outcome of my pregnancy

Hey i just found out at my 20 week scan that my baby has these cysts on both sides of the brain, I'm trying not to work but obviously it is difficult and i just hope that everything will be fine in the follow up scan in 2 weeks, it really puts it in perspective how much people should never take for granted being healthy and having a healthy baby! Hopefully it will all be ok, the posts on here have made me feel a little better as now i know there are others who have worried about the same thing xxx

My son also had one, he is now 8 years old and fine. It's hard but try not to stress, I ended up doing more harm by stressing about the cyst. Take care

It is probably a choriod plexus cyst. It is extremely common and usually the cysts disappear or get smaller over time. We found out my daughter had them during a routine ultrasound. She was just fine as are the majority of children that have them prenatal. the only concern comes in when there is a possibility of trisomy 18 which your doctor would have mentioned if they thought that was even a possibility.

hi tracey
i had the exact same thing happen with me, with my son's ultrasound.. my ob/gyn even told me that i had nothing to worry about, but of course it didnt stop me.. i eventually kind of trusted her judgement as she said it fixes itself and basically it did!
so i know its hard.,. but if they say its ok.. it will be. (its choroid plexus cyst)
i did so much research on it.. and most moms said the same thing
good luck :)

My DD had a CPC on her brain and it was absorbed before she was born. 50% of the human race has them before they are born. Almost all of them absorb before the baby is born. No worries!

Tracy,
You have nothing to worry about. I just had twins come home after 5 weeks in the Nicu. Staying there we learned a lot about all the little things that could possibly be wrong. Most babies who show a cyst will grow out of it before they are even born. The majority of babies while in the womb have a cyst at some point it is just whether it is actually caught on the ultra sound.
You are doing great just hang in there. And trust your doctors if they tell you there is nothing to worry about... they are right.

Hi there, during my 20 week scan they also found that my baby had choroid plexus cysts in the brain. This really scared me and of course I searched in internet for information which ended up freaking me out even more! I did find one website though http://www.choroidplexuscyst.org/ where other people posted their stories and I found this very reassuring. 4 weeks later at a further scan there were no further cysts found. My baby is now a very healthy and happy 13 month old. Please remember that these cysts are harmless and are quite often found in healthy adults so try not to stress.

I was told my son had cysts on his brain too at my 20 week ultrasound. I was also told in most cases the cysts absorb and disappear by the time the baby is born. It was upsetting but all turned out well. He is a healthy, happy and very busy 3 year old these days.

They told us the same thing about our son and my ob told me that it was nothing to worry about and that it would go away on its own. I had another ultrasound about a month later and it was gone. nothing to worry about its normal

Hi Tracey, my son William had the same thing show up on his scan, he is now 4 months off turning three and he is fine. I am sure your baby will be fine as well. If I can remember correctly the Dr said the baby needs to have several medical issues for the cyst to be a problem, and it is usually gone by the time the baby is due. All the best with your baby :)

My daughter had the same thing. I had to go to a specialist and everything. I was reassured that she was going to be fine. She is now almost 6 mon and is completely fine. I believe it went away not sure though but she is fine.
