I didn't while I was pregos and haven't so far during this pregnancy, but I feel that if the benifits out way the risk (something you and your doc that talk about), then many times with the right meds and dose, it very good. I have been on meds in the past and after I had my son had to go back on them. I think it's a good idea, not just for yourself but it really does help life seem clearer. I'm aware that I may have to go back on them and if that's the case, then that's what I'll do. No one would tell a diabetic to stay of their insaline or a person with high blood pressure to see how it goes without. There are many different medical reason for meds and if they help and make life more positive and truley managable. then I dont' understand why anyone wouldn't want to provide life to it's fullest.

Constance: I'd get a second opinion! With that much daily medication it's a wonder your liver and kidneys are still functioning. :/

I have what they call chronic Back Pain. I take methadone 4 times aday. Nabumetone 3 times aday and Vicodin 3 to 4 times aday. I also take nortriptyline for the pain at night to help me sleep. I have 4 kids23,14,4and3 years old. I have been in chronic pain since 2005 and after I had my last two kids I stared going to the chronic pain management. Specialist. I was. Told that this is something that I would probably have the rest of my life. I will be 42this year. I deal with PAIN everyday. And its hard when people don't. understand. That there are things that I can not do. Iam told by some people if you walk more or exercise. More then you will feel better. They don't understand. That sometimes. I can't do anything

@ Blackwood, Thank for your comments. When yoou have to take meds like me ,so many people get bunched into one catigory drug addict. I hate being steroetyped, because most people only take it the way it is pescribed. Most doctors exspecially pain management really do pay attention to their patients. Most of them make you sign a contract. Mine says I have to come inn when they call to count my pills, or for me to take a urinalis and check for other narcotics. Also I have to peiotically speak to theripst that specialises in addiction. I follow my contract to the letter and most people do.
All I ask is for people to know the whole story before judgement.

I haven't taken any OTC or prescription meds in 5 years. I strongly suggest the book "You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise Hay to everyone who is on meds (and everyone not on meds).

I take ibuprofen and iron pills daily. My husband would say that I also medicate myself with Diet Pepsi, but that's way better than eating all of the chocolate that I really want! :)

@constance, where are you? I saw two neurosurgens, the second one did my fusion/discectomy, I have been in your shoes, it is horrible and frightening. I kept telling them that I was afraid if they didnt do the suregery soon I would end up parylized. I had the surgery back in 05 and I owuld do it again in a second. I live in Ohio and I would very happily give you my surgens info if you thought it would help. I know that if he had not agreed to do mine I would have travled to the ends of the earth to find someone who would :)

Yeah that was me. It can get alittle crazy but I wouldn't have it anyway. I probally am one of the only moms that all the kids call mom. None of the othe moms mind because I am not trying to take their place. I really do love having my house full of kids. I probally would have had moe if my body could have handled it. My last three almost killed me so my husband finally went and got a vasectomy so I couldn't talk him into another one. He told me I want to adopt he is ok with that.

LOL But he never thinks before he speaks and the only thing wrong with him is he is a moron. But I am not angry I promise. Friends?

Have to take Epilim for epilepsy daily. Haha, I used to be 'crazy' and take 'crazy' pills, but they made me worse, and prayer made me sane. Sometimes I hate that I have to take pills (specially as they have awful side effects) but some things we just have to live with :)

Its nice to know that I am not the only one. I have been taking meds for so long that it seems to take more to have the same effect. I take soooo much it would probably kill another person. And I dont know if "Its nice to know that . . " is probably the right phrase. {:+)

@Kate, I messed my back up in 99. I have done everything to minmize the pain. I try not to have to resort to pain meds, but sometimes I am left with no choice. I had been off meds fo about a year when I through my back and I couldn't move. I went to the hospital for help with the pain. The doctor gave me an IV and pain meds. He came back in an hour later and ask how they wee working and I was honest and told him I had no relief so he gave me more. It did kinda help. Thee was shift change so the new doctor came in to see how I was doing and then proceed to tell me he was scared to give me anymore because I had 4mg od Dilotted which equals out to be about 32 mg of morphine. He immedently refered me to a new nuerosurgeon and pain management. I wish I didn't have to gothis oute but I have no choice right now.

I had to start pain management again for my back. I take morphine, robaxon, valium, and lunesta. I know that looks insane most people would be in a coma after taking that but all of it combined I sleep for about two hours. I want to fix my back but Nuerosurgen keeps saying it isn't bad enough but I still have to function.

I take meds too most of the time. I need to have either a full stomach or water and when my husband tries to cram them down my throat. I tell him I dont have any water or I havent eaten. And besides they dont really work anyway. He says Yeah because you dont take them. He may have a point. lol {:+)
