dating curfew

My 17 year old daughter is dating a 20 year old guy who is wonderful. He is responsible, caring and a strong Christian as is my daughter. I have set her curfew on weekdays at 12:00 during the summer and 1:00 on weekends for the summer. After school starts I will change it to 10:00 weeknights (after homework has been completed) and 12:30 on weekends.
I would like to hear other mother's comments on this. Thanks much.

My oldest is just starting to hit this stage, so have not had too much experience as a parent in this area. But when I was growing up my parents set my curfew depending on what we were doing that night. They would find out what we were planning on doing....dinner and movie.....then they would set the curfew according to that. We could always spend longer together at my parents house (so for my son this will be a new road traveled as to how to work that). If we were going to someone's house she would find out who and what was going on.....then set it according to what she felt was a good time. Growing up I never minded this way of setting the curfew. It always allowed me to do what I had wanted to do. As a parent I like this way also as it does not leave time for other stuff to be going on when the dinner and movie was done. I know things have changed some with the use of cell phone and texting. Plans seem to develop as the night goes on, so that would be something we would have to consider and figure out how to work that.
