Daycare Issues.

My daughter has just turned eight months old this week. In addition to this exciting stage we have had some setbacks in her schedule. Being a dual military family my husband and I don't have as much time as we'd like to interact with her during the day and when we pick her up from daycare she is absolutely exhausted. Her daily schedule is absolutely mixed up between daycare and home and we are going to have to adjust. She is a daycare for nine hours and is only getting one nap of less than an hour. We have appealed to the teachers and to the director but are unable to make headway against their policy of being unauthorized to "put" babies to sleep. Has anyone else had this problem with any other daycare? Is this normal? Is there ANYTHING I can do to help our baby? Please help me. Our previous nanny returned to work for us and then demanded more money, then quit and our daughter will be back in daycare after only three days out and back to a normal napping schedule. I don't know what to do.

That is nuts. IMO as a mother of four and a nurse, it's borderline abuse. At 8 months she may need three naps a day still! Do they put her down for the one hour or how does that nap take place and why is it so short? You must not get any enjoyable time with her being overtired all of the time. I'd find a new arrangement. Was your nanny a live in or come and go? You could report the facility to the licensing agency. That may force them to reevaluate their policy but it does not fix the immediate issue. Can you or your spouse take a short leave while you figure out new childcare?
