My DD is now 4, almost 5 and she goes through these fazes of being in space for a week at a time. After that, she comes back to earth and will chat and be funny again. It has been happening since she was about 3. She was attending preschool for two years but left mid year due to a teacher, well she was not really a teacher, yelling and putting her in time out once a day. Now I thought the preK thing was the problem but this is becoming a pattern. I have homeschooled her since she left. She doing great! She's well above her pers now in every way. Except when she's mentally checked out. You can't really chat to her, she's extremely lazy and won't play. All she cares about is eating and TV which is limited. That causes fits but oh well. She cuts us off. She will tell me the wrong answers when we do "school" just so she doesn't have to think. I ask, where are you! Then after a week or so of that, she's back. Eager to learn, friendly, and knows all the answered she refused to answer the week before and then some. That lasts for longer so I'm happy but I do t understand why.
She just got over fever and un unknown illness, the dr had no clue and just gave antibiotics which is irritating but whatever, during her fever she was fine and had her personality. Today my space cadet is back and not communicating properly. What is it? I would expect her to be out there while she was sick but instead it's following the usually path of when she's well. I'm not sure if this is normal. Sorry for the rant.
