I am 19 years old, and had dated a 30-something year old man for about 2 years. We got pregnant twice, and the first one didn't work out, but the second one is now almost 3 months old. He was abusive our entire relationship, and I only stayed, (well, I only ever GOT with him because he swore he loved me) because he had begged me to and swore me that he would change. Well, that never happened, and he went to jail, and is now 4 hours away from me and is not allowed to contact me, and we're currently going into a case over him breaking the no-contact multiple times. I've stopped talking to him since he cheated on me, and lied more and more. I had enough of it. I had to look out for not just myself, but my daughter. She's my main priority. I don't want him in her life, but is it selfish of me to try to take her away if he ever tries for visitation? Blood is supposedly "important" to him, but he beat me throughout the pregnancy until he went to jail. And sadly, I can't ask him to sign over his rights to her because here in the Virginia Commonwealth, it is not allowed. I need help/advice with this. I don't know what to do. He hasn't help a job since years before I met him, and he's a pathological liar, and an ex heroin addict, (but may still be using), an alcoholic and abusive. He's also supported by his parents. I personally don't believe his is fit to be a parents, but he's the one who wanted a child with me.
