My son, Logan, has had constipation his entire life. We have been to multiple doctors and psycologists, have tried every method (reward, punishment, calm explination, not so calm explination) that we could find, have ruled out any physical problem, and been on Miralax for since he has been 3. I am out of ideas and at the very end of my rope. Please...any constructive suggestions will be welcome. We have tried talking to him and all we get is "I know". He is a smart boy so I know he understands what is going on. He is the youngest of 4 kids and the only boy.

Maybe he is allergic to something or not drinking enough water and eating enough vegetables

Did the doctors look to see if he has any blockages in his intestinal tract? Try feeding him prunes with his meals

Why punishments? For accidents? Usually punishment doesn't work, probably he cannot control it.
Look on bedwettingandaccidents.com. Despite the weird procedure it worked for a lot of people for bedwetting and constipation. Basically it consists of an enema everyday for a month, then every other day for the second month, and finally an enema a week for the third month. If he will have accident while doing it or later, you should start from the beginning. Hope that helps.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, we have thought of that. We have had him tested for every food allergy you can think of (all ruled out), he is allowed to eat minimal dairy, and has a required water intake each day (we bought a water bottle and marked times on it, he has to drink that amount of water by that time). None of it has helped.
