I have noticed that i have been having painful periods so my doctor gave me a ultrasound to see measure the size of my fibroids she stated that they were big enough that she thought they shoud be taken out at first she wnted to do the procedure called novasure which she said would stop the painful heavy periods but that would also make it to where i couldn'thave babies anymore. Well i don't really want anymore kids i have 2 (and love them dearly) but i don't want to have a procedure that would make me permenantly sterile, i may change my mind late and want to add on to my family but i really want to know have anybody out there had a myomectomy (procedure done to remove fibroids) and what was the outcome. and have you had kids since.

7 years ago I found out I had a fibroid tumour and we wanted 1 more child so I had to take fertility pills to help us conceive. Luckily it only took 6 months of trying. We were able to conceive our last son. I had to have a C section to deliver him. When our son was 18 months old I went under the knife to have to rather large fibroid removed along with most of my indoor plumbing. All I have left is my ovaries. It was something my husband and I had discussed for hours, but we were already blessed with 3 amazing boys. So we made the decision that my health was much more important then trying to have another child. I was 33 when our last son was born and we both felt our family complete ;-)
Now I don't get periods ;-) which is nice let me tell you.
You have to do what is best for you and your family. Everyone is different.

I don't know what procedure I am going to have next.....it's a hard decision. There are options, just not for ME. I have an appointment scheduled so we will see how it goes.

I don't mean to sound nasty but I know how it will sound written so here it goes.

IMO you have the choice of putting up with the pain and heavy periods, just in case you want more children, or you can get a procedure done that will hopefully stop the pain but leave you infertile.

I think you need to weigh up the pain versus no more children. It's a choice that only you can make but if it was me I would go the procedure. I suffer every month but there's nothing they will do for me. I have had heavy, painful periods since I started at 13. I would LOVE a hysterectomy but they won't do one. I am now hoping that I go through menopause early. I don't want anymore children and am now pushing 40.

I know that sounded really nasty but that's not my intention. I'm just making sure you are making the right decision for you. Be happy with the children you, many women would love to have children of their own.

I am in the exact situation. I have fibroids too and my doctor wants me sterilized which I don't want to do, just in case. I can't take BC because I have severe reactions. So I don't know what they can do for me.
I need to make an appointment and see. I do have some cysts, one is big the others aren't that big. I have had 2 periods a month for the last 3 months. The did an endometrial biopsy to see if I have endometriosis and apparently I don't. So I don't know what the next step is.
