Dealing with teenage daughter

My 17 year old daughter rolls her eyes and sneers at me when I ask her how it's going or about getting a job. If I remind her about doing her 10 minute daily chore she becomes so argumentative and snide. Her attitude eats away at my self esteem and self worth. It's hard to have her treat me like that everyday. Some people say to not take it personally and t's just a teenage thing but it brings me SO down.

She's 17 and you still remind her to do her daily chore? Why not have stuff like that written down and posted somewhere in the house and then just let it be? She's almost an adult now and the constant reminder probably makes her feel like you are treating her like a child.

Is she LOOKING for a job? Is she having a hard time finding one? Perhaps that is frustrating her and your reminders are again reinforcing her feeling like she is failing.

These are just some suggestions of what she 'might' be feeling. I don't know her and I don't know you, but maybe if the two of you sat down together and talked like adults (since she's about to BE one) it would help you both understand each other and get along better.

I would love to hear advice of what has worked for you to change or deal with this kind of behavior in your teenage daughters.......
