Can I purchase a vehicle with my childs SSI dedicated account funds? I need reliable transportation to make her appointments and operations.

so it says several times in the paper work that you can not. You can take a loan from the account but you have to show proof you are paying it back in a timely matter. and cant not use his monmthly check to do so. You can use his monthly check to buy a car or pay bills becuase the car helps him

You would need to talk with your local office, but I purchased my son a car with his SSI funds...And I've used them to send him to camp, and purchase school supplies, etc.

It was my understanding that expenditures would not be questioned, as long as it was shown as a need to facilitate something for the child. So, in my opinion, a vehicle to get her to appointments, etc would not be out of line, but I'm also one of those who double checks everything...I've never had to tell them what I spent the money on, nor have I had to keep "official" records and send to them, but I'm still cautious...
