I need help finding information on Ontario parents rights to choose to delay their child one year from school - and when they do then register it's at JK level not SK level. I chose to delay my daughter's entry into school by one year as her birthday falls Dec. 31, 2009 (hours from being a January baby and defaulting into the next year anyway), as well as being a premature baby.
The school is holding me off at making a decision on my request to have her in JK and therefore put her in SK saying we will 'talk' in April or May. I'm worried they are molding her to 'survive' in SK without any thought to making an exception to the school board rule of birthdate entry. I need to find my rights to support my decision to hold her back without skipping that year of kindergarten and give the proper support my daughter needs to succeed in her many years of school.
