delayed puberty in my 15 yr old son

Any moms have sons with delayed puberty? My 15 year old has no signs of puberty & his growth has slowed on the growth chart. My husband was very delayed as a boy & isn't concerned. The doctor wants to do a bone age xray & blood tests...any insight please!

I guess it wouldn't hurt to have tests but I wouldn't be too concerned just yet. When my son first turned 16 and was a junior in high school, he had no signs of puberty at all. His voice was still high, he had no signs of pubic hair, and his genitals were the same size as when he was about 8 years old. He was about 5'6" tall and weighed about 110 although very lean and athletic. He wss a little concerned over his lack of maturity but not too muçh as he was pretty popular socially and even dated quite a bit. My husband was also not concerned because he had been a late bloomer too. Sure enough, things started happening on the puberty front for my son when he was about 16 1/2. A year later he is now 6'2" tall, weighs about 165, and has pubic hair and mature genitals. I suspect your son is just a "late bloomer" too and will start puberty within the next year or so.

It can't hurt to do the tests. That is pretty late. My friend's son has the same issue. You should at least know all the facts...then you can make an informed decision.

15 may be on the later end of the spectrum but I wouldn't call it delayed...I remember in junior high and high school there were people in every stage of puberty. I, myself didn't start until I was 14. I wouldn't worry until he starts to worry about it.
