My daughter is 5 and she has started Depakote. She is on Trileptal as well. The doctor just did our first blood test to check her levels and we found out she has low carnitine levels.... Now he is saying he wants to up the medication dose but also states having low carnitine levels can be dangerous.... I am not feeling comfortable with upping the dose without fixing her levels. I was doing research on what low levels affect a person and some of the results scare the living daylights out of me... I was leery of having her on it but the neurologist said we have tried 6 other medications and either they didn't work or the side effects were horrible... I am at loss here. Any advice? Any questions that may have helped you with your child's neurologist that maybe I am not asking?
