Describe your baby's 9-month sleep regression!

My LO is a little over 8 months old and I'm wondering if she's hit the 9-month sleep regression. She was doing really well sleep-wise--sometimes sleeping through the night and other times waking up only once and settling easily. A week and a half ago she got a cold and her top teeth decided to show up, so we had a few really rough nights and I chalked it up to her being uncomfortable. Now her teeth have both fully broken through her gums and her cold symptoms are gone, but she's still waking up to 6 or 7 times a night. What's confusing me is that most nights around the same time, she wakes up crying inconsolably and we have to rock her back to sleep. We've tried controlled crying and it makes it worse to the point where she starts gagging. Sometimes it takes up to an hour to get her settled enough to lay her back down without the crying starting up again.

So, does this sound like the dreaded sleep regression? What was yours like? I'm trying to determine if that's what is going on or if it warrants a call to the doc. Thanks ladies!

Sounds like teething to me. My son cut his eye teeth when he was 8 months old, they're the most painful of the teeth. Have a feel around her gums and if you feel hard lumps it means the buds are starting to push down, if that is the case you're in for a rough few weeks, maybe more. I used to put bonjella on my sons gums and put a dummy in his mouth, tried walking him in the pram if that didn't work it was into the car we went, yes at 1-2am just to get him settled and I wouldn't take him out of the car seat, I'd take it out carry it inside and leave him next to my bed. During the day I'd give him ice blocks to chew on, the cold helps with the teething process, once it melted I'd refreeze it and give him another to chew on, frozen teething rings are good too, sometimes they don't get cold type symptoms so,it can be deceiving but it sounds to me like your little bundle is about to cut a lot more teeth and it's just something you'll have to get used to for a while. Good luck Hun
