Destruction of property

I was just at a hotel in Hershey Pa with my 2 daughters 11/12 and their friend 13. When my husband and I were sleeping they wondered the hotel and drew dirty pics on people's doors with shaving cream, toothpaste and ketchup AND they threw tampons and pads in the pool, some with ketchup on them AND they jumped the fence into pool and swam after it was closed AND they put dirty notes under peoples doors. I was charged $100 for destruct of property. How should I punish them? Should I tell the other mom? I don't know her that well. It wasn't drinking, drugs, or sex but immature behavior. They did not destruct property but I understand why the hotel charged me. Advise?

You should make them pay the $100. And yes, you should tell the other mum. If they are old enough to be that destructive, they are old enough to do some hard labour to earn the money to pay for it. And seriously, I would have a discussion with them about trust and how they need to work hard to earn it back. Then I wouldn't allow them any free reign on their own time until I could trust them again. They have made it blatantly clear that you can't leave them alone for a moment, and if they want to act like a 5 year old, you will treat them like one.
