My 7 year old is very destructive. He doesn't go into a room to purposly break something, but he just doesn't think about what he's doing. I can't tell you how many curtain rods I've had to replace because of him. He will go into a room and start talking to someone and just hang on the curtain, or just be in there looking for a toy and do the same thing, and he hangs on it long enough for the thing to finally give in and bend. He's also done the same thing with the closet doors in my daughters' room. They are the bi-fold type, and he will grab on it and lean over or just hang on the handle for no reason. He broke the first one 2 times. My husband tried to fix it after the first, but it only took a couple days for him to break it the second time. Today I walked in and found the other door broke. I am so lost as to how to make him stop. I've talked to him. I've yelled. I've made him pay for the curtain rods out of his piggy bank, but nothing seems to get through to him. It's like he just doesn't care. How do I get my son to care that he is destroying our house?
