My 14 year old daughter told me she was going to her friends house for an hour I said alright but be back in an hour. She stayed out for 4 hours I tried calling her she didn't answer I called her friends mom and she said she left 2 hours ago. When she came home I was so relieved and angry, I started yelling at her asking where she was and why she didn't answer. She just told me she went shopping and she didn't think I would mind, I was so furious. Then I told her she wasn't allowed out for 4 days and I also took her phone for 4 days. Was I too harsh.

No you weren't to harsh she had you worried and she needed to know that if you call her cell phone she needs to anwser. You did good.

If this is the first time she'd done it, I'd do a warning. Let her know your expectations (that she ask your permission, that you know where she is, that she be home when she says she is home, that she answer her phone, spell out those expectations very clearly), let her know that you were worried and are angry. Then let her know what the consequences will be if she does this again.
