I allowed my kids to stay up, but they all fell asleep at 10pm... how did you celebrate New Years with kids? We watched a family friendly movie and after the kids fell asleep we watched another movie.
What about your family?

lol - "let" isnt the term Id use. We had a few friends over for a quiet night in and there was no way she (2yo) was going to bed early without a good fight. She fell asleep in our arms about ten minutes after the fireworks on TV finished and we didnt last much longer either :)

I spent New Years at a family friend's house. It was my mom's friend actually and I grew up with her kids. The children all stayed up past Midnight, well all the kids except my daughter...she's 18 months and was tired at 9pm =] the other kids were 4, 6, and 9 years old...they stayed up. Some of the adults drank, some watched movies, the kids played, we all ate way too much, we played a domino game, the teenagers played the wii, talked and caught up since I had been away for a while, exchanged gifts since We were not all together for xmas, just had a good time with eachother. at midnight we all put on tiarras and top hats and shot confetti guns and toasted with champagn and cider. By that time, I was ready to go to bed...buzzed and up way past my bed time =]

To tell the sad truth I am enjoying all the washing and having 7 people in the house and love the smell of Dettol. Maybe it's a nesting thing but who cares bahaha

We were at friends of ours for the evening. The kids stayed upstairs watching movies and playing for the most part. The adults stayed downstairs chatting and playing games. Everyone managed to make it until at least 1 am.

Emma I heard on tv about the floods in areas of Australia. The first thing that came to mind was the fellow moms on COM who live there.

Yeah I feel helpless though I have to stay home and look after Logan while everyone cleans. Our house was fine but I am washing flooded clothes for friends though.

My kid is 11 months so no. I fell asleep watching Braveheart because the entire town is flooded or else someone would have had a party but all my friends are separated by water and some have water in their houses.

I don't know if my kids stayed up or not since they were w/ their father. I never stay up, but I can tell you that last year I let my girls stay up (they were 8) while I went to bed.... checked on them around 10 and they were both out.

I didn't do much this year. Heck, I was in bed by 11. But last year and the year before my daughter got to stay up until midnight.

My daughter is only four so...no. She went to bed at a normal time. We also didn't do anything for new years. The only reason I knew it was midnight was because of all the fireworks going off. :P

My son tried, but by 10:45ish it was just sleepy time. My son & nephews (age almost 6, 6 1/2, & almost 9) had a dance party and they were SO tired! After board games, bon fire in the back yard, stair luging, and twister, they are all so tired!

We had relatives over. We told kids ahead of time if they got grouchy, then it was just bedtime. Our daughter actually didn't take her nap until a couple hours later than normal [4 years ] and she didn't wake up until almost 5pm, so she did make it to midnight. Our son is almost 2 and stayed up late almost to 9pm. If we wouldn't have had family over to occupy daughter and keep her awake and playing, she'd probably never have made it.

My 4 year old really wanted to stay up thanks to his dad who told him all about the celebration! He made it till 11:45, lol. I tried waking him so he could see the ball drop but he just mumbled that he was taking a nap. While we were waiting we just watched iCarly and Victorious in bed.

Of course! My daughter has had the opportunity to stay up for the last several years (she's 12 now) but it's only been the last 3 years that she has actually made it. We always celebrate with friends that we don't often see, so there are a lot of games, kids, finger food, and laughter. One night out of the year makes staying up late special. This year my hubby and I were ready to go to bed BEFORE midnight while our duaghter was still going! Happy New Year's to everyone!

Yep, and they stayed awake. We had a family games night with lots of fun and snacks. Why not??? By midnight, the 5 year old was ready to crash, the 11 and 13 year olds were tired but trying not to show it. They ALL went to bed early tonight. But we had a blast.
