Dinner Time.

What you do with a child that won't eat his dinner? My child use to eat now he won't eat what I make for dinner, I get so upset but I tried not to show him that I'm upset. I make dinner he won't eat anything. But later on he asked for something like junk food. I would like some advice on this matter.

If it's food you know he likes (has eaten in the past)... he eats that or nothing. If it's something new or something he doesn't like... I'd let him eat a healthy, simple alternative like some fruit or cheese, etc... Definitely no 'junk' unless he's eaten a healthy meal first.

I would make whatever you want to make and if he doesn't eat it he doesn't get to have any snacky/junk food later on. If you give in and give him junk food he'll learn if I don't eat dinner I can get full with this other junky food I like.

Maybe once or twice a week you can have him help make dinner with you? Kids tend to eat things they've helped make more than food just served to them. I would continue being consistant in not showing him that you care about whether he eats dinner or not. If he doesn't like it he doesn't need to eat it, but then he'll just be hungry until tomorrow.
